There has been one burglary and one attempted burglary in the Baswich area over the weekend.
The burglary was at a property in Fairview Way where offenders entered via an insecure back door before stealing a bag, purse & wallet, and the attempt was at a property in Compton Road where it is believed the family dog frightened off an offender trying to enter via an insecure window.
Please warn your neighbours to be on their guard and remind them to make sure their properties are secure at all times, especially during the warmer weather.

A male & female have been reported in the Baswich area going door to door selling double glazing.
They went to an address in Cornwall Drive about 2pm and were said to be aggressive in their demeanour.
Please warn your neighbours to be on their guard, especially the elderly and vulnerable, and remind them that best advice is to obtain three different quotes from three different reputable companies before buying any home improvements.

Rogue Traders.
This is a request for immediate observations relating to Rogue Traders visiting any area of Chase Division either to carryout work on properties or collecting scrap metal. To this end if you have a visit in your street or area of any of these persons will you not approach or get involved but simple take a record of the registration and description of any vehicles being used and report them to the police immediately on 0300 123 44 55 quoting 'Operation Liberal' If however you have a Bogus Official situation at any time please ring 999 immediately. There have been two burglaries in the area over the weekend.
Sometime overnight Friday 4th/Saturday 5th June offenders forced the back door of a property in Baswich Lane before stealing bank cards and various keys, and at approx. 11.30pm Saturday 5th offenders used a bird bath to smash a window at a property in Knowle Road.
It is believed this caused the alarm to activate and the offenders made off without stealing anything.
Please warn your neighbours to be on their guard and to make sure their properties are secure at all times.

Two vehicles damaged in Newquay Avenue
Two cars have had damage caused to them in Newquay Avenue.
One vehicle has had all four tyres let down and paintwork damaged, and the other vehicle has been scratched with a sharp instrument.
The damage was caused sometime this morning Tuesday 23rd March and anyone with any information is asked to contact the police at Stafford.

Burglaries in Cannock Rd & Heron Close, Stafford
Between 2am and 4.50am on Saturday 20th February there has been one sneak-in house burglary in Cannock Road, Stafford, where the offender gained entry via an insecure rear door and stole property including lap-top computers and a mobile phone, and between 2am and 7am on the same date, there has been one house burglary in Herons Close, Wildwood, where the offenders gained entry via an cat-flap and stole property including car keys that were then used to steal the resident's two cars. There were no witnesses.
Please warn your neighbours to be on their guard, to keep their doors and windows secure and locked at all times and to be wary of any strangers, especially anyone approaching the rear of a property. Please report anything suspicious to the police immediately.

There was a burglary at a property on Cannock Road, near to Police HQ, on Saturday 30th January.
The owner of the property was only out for an hour, between noon & 1pm, when offenders entered through the patio doors before stealing jewellery and a lap top computer.

There have been reports of a vehicle driving around the Baswich area looking for scrap.
The vehicle is described as a ‘R' registered silver pick-up and was last seen in Bodmin Avenue yesterday 26th January.
Could you please make sure that nothing of value is left unattended outside your property and that any suspicious activity is reported to the police immediately.

The Pension Service is advising people to be aware of bogus telephone calls from people claiming you are entitled to an additional Winter Fuel Payment.The bogus caller claims to be from the Department of Work and Pensions and asks for bank details in order to pay the additional payment.
The Pension Service advises customers never to give bank details under any circumstances to anyone calling in relation to Winter Fuel Payments or saying they are from DWP. If anyone has already given out information they are advised to contact their bank immediately for further advice.

There has been a report of a man purporting to be from the council calling at an address in The Saltings recently stating the residents trees needed cutting back.
The council have confirmed the man to be bogus and so could you please remind your neighbours, especially the elderly and vulnerable, to be on their guard and not to deal with any doorstep callers.
Anyone coming to your door claiming to be from an official agency should be checked out by calling the agency involved to verify their identity.

There were reports last evening, Tuesday 15th December, of young men going door to door in the Baswich area selling household goods.

Beware the scrap metal thieves
This is a general message for the residents of Baswich and Wildwood.
There have been reports recently of scrap merchants travelling around the area and helping themselves to property they are not entitled to.

Sneak in Burglary - Barnes Road Stafford
Between 3.00 and 10.00pm on Thursday 03rd December 2009 offenders have sneak into an insecure property in Barnes Road Stafford and stolen a ladies Brown leather handbag which was left unattended.Please advise your neighbourhood watch members that it is imperative that all external doors and windows to ground floor areas not in use should be secure at all times. Report all suspicious activity persons or vehicles to the police immediately.

Beware bogus charity bag collectors.
There have been reports of a red van travelling around the Baswich area picking up bags of clothes that are meant for the British Heart Foundation.
The registration of the van is W557 JEH.
If you are putting bags out for collection could you please be wary of this vehicle and report any sightings of it to the police.

Vehicle damaged in Bodmin Avenue.
Damage was caused to a vehicle parked on the driveway of a property in Bodmin Avenue.
It happened sometime between 6pm Friday 28th & 1pm Saturday 29th August when someone scratched the vehicle with a sharp instrument.

A lap top computer has been stolen from a property in Truro Way.
It happened just before 10.30am on 11th August when it appears the offender has leaned through an open lounge window and taken the computer off the coffee table.

It is advisable to keep doors and windows locked in parts of the house where no-one is present.

This is a request for information.
Police are appealing to anyone who has seen a man called Gareth Evans, who went missing from the Stafford area at 4.30pm on Friday 10th July. Mr Evans went missing in a silver coloured Mercedes Sprinter Van with the words ‘Abode Plastering Services', vehicle registration number WP03 YFS. He is described as 5'9'' tall with short dark brown coloured wavy hair and brown eyes. He speaks with a Midland accent. He may be wearing jeans, a T shirt and trainers.

On Thursday 4th June there have been two incident of crime reported in this policing area:
Between 4.15pm and 4.45pm there has been one house burglary in The Crescent, Walton-on-the-Hill, where a window was forced and property including cash and jewellery was stolen. There were no witnesses.
At around 5pm a distraction burglary occurred in Cremorne Drive, Stafford, where a man approached the elderly resident, who was in the rear garden, and distracted the resident by offering to do garden work, at the same time an accomplice forced the lock on the front door and stole cash and jewellery. Both offenders are described as white males aged in their 30s. they made off in a silver coloured vehicle.
Please warn your neighbours to be on their guard and to be cautious of any strangers. Please report anything suspicious to the police immediately.

Police have received reports of a company selling mobility products in the Stafford area over the past few days.
They use a white van with the name ABM Mobility on the side and have been active in the Baswich area this past weekend.
Although doing nothing illegally some such companies have been known to use high pressure sales tactics in the past and so if you require any mobility equipment advice from police and Trading Standards is to get three different quotes from three different reputable companies first.

This message is to let you know that the British Red Cross have
representatives in the area during the Month of February.
The representatives are visiting residents and asking them to make donations via
Direct Debits.
Police and Trading Standards advice is never to buy or sell at the door and
should you want to donate to a charity then contact the charity directly.

appointment and even then not without checking and verifying their ID.

A
wing mirror of a vehicle was damaged last night 4th February in
Torrington Avenue.
A neighbour witnessed the
incident at about 8pm.
The offenders were a group of 4 or 5 youths wearing
hooded coats and they were aged about 14 or 15. They
walked off towards Porlock Avenue.

This message is for shoppers visiting Stafford Town Centre
during the Christmas period.
There have been incidents of purse thefts in the Town recently and it is the
type of crime that tends to be on the increase at this time of year.
Would you please remind everyone of the need to be vigilant when out shopping
and to make sure purses and wallets are safely secured.
To help combat this sort of crime Stafford police are giving out free bells and
chains that can be attached to your purse to make them more secure.

Also be extra vigilant when drawing money out of cash machines and where
possible use the machines inside the bank.

This is a warning to residents.
Sometime between 1pm on 6th and 8am on 7th November the spare wheel was stolen
from underneath a car that was parked in St Austell Close.

Sometime between 6pm yesterday 20th & 8am this morning 21st October someone has
smashed the rear window of a car that was parked in Bodmin Avenue.

This is a warning to residents.
There were three burglaries and one
attempted burglary in the Baswich area overnight of Saturday 23rd/Sunday
24th August.
In Cornwall Drive there was one burglary where offenders forced the patio doors
and stole a set of keys and one attempted burglary where offenders tried to
force the conservatory doors - And in Penzance Way there were two burglaries,
one by unknown means and one through an insecure kitchen window, where offenders
stole car keys and subsequently the cars.
The vehicles in question are a Silver Lexus
reg; V99 URG and a VW Golf reg; DN57 EUE.
Any information about these incidents or any knowledge of the whereabouts of
either of the vehicles should be reported to the police immediately.

Overnight Saturday 2nd
, Sunday 3rd August two properties in Penzance Way had their sheds
broken into.
Various items were stolen from one and a lawn mower was stolen from the other.

Police from Chase division are
urging residents to be on their guard against bogus and suspicious callers after
two incidents in the Stafford and Stone areas yesterday (August 4).
At 3.50pm, officers received a report that two men
had been to the home of a man in Trentham’s Whitmore Road claiming they needed
to check the water. The man told the men to leave his property and they did not
gain entry to the house. They are described as white, in their early twenties
and were in a white van.
A report was then taken at 4.10pm that two men had
gone into the home of an elderly couple on the Eccleshall Road in Stafford. The
men claimed they needed to check the radiators in the property. After they had
left, the lady noticed a white handbag containing personal property and a small
amount of money had been taken. The men are described as white and wearing
jeans.
It’s not known if the two incidents are linked but
the police would welcome any information you may have.
Please remind your neighbours, especially the
elderly and vulnerable, not to let strangers into their homes unless they are
absolutely sure they are genuine.

The police have received information that certain companies are targeting this
area, telephoning residents to make appointments to visit. In the past, some
such companies have been known to use hard-sell techniques.

This is an appeal for information.
Over the last few days there have been nine incidents where bus shelters and
phone kiosks have been smashed.
These have happened at various locations
including Eccleshall Road, Marston Road, Stone Road, Sandon Road & Weston Road.
It’s not clear if the incidents are linked or if the offenders are travelling
around the area in a vehicle.
Please be vigilant and report any such activity to the police immediately.

A resident of Baswich Lane went out this
morning to discover that all four tyres on her vehicle, that was parked on the
grass verge, had been slashed.
It would have happened sometime between 10.30pm last night 12th & 7.15am this
morning 13th.
If you were in the area during this time and you saw anything suspicious please

This is a
warning to residents.
Police have received reports of
possible rogue traders operating in the area.
Occupants of a white transit van
were seen touting for business outside the shops in Bodmin Avenue just before
11am today 27th May.
The Reg of the van is EX51 BFP
and one of the occupants is described as having olive coloured skin and
was wearing a blue jacket.
Also, just after noon today, a
man went to the door of an elderly lady in Appledore Close asking to let him
clear her gutters. The man was very persistant and it took the lady a while to
get rid of him. This man is described as white, in his 50's with wavy, grey
hair. He was 5'6'' tall, of slight build and wearing a blue jacket.
It could be that these two
incidents are linked and police are urging residents to be on their guard.
Any sightings of this van or
it's occupants should be reported to the police immediately.

On 21st
February there were two burglaries and one attempted distraction burglary in
different parts of Stafford.
In Corporation Street a lady returned home at 9.30pm to discover the cat flap missing
and a mobile phone had been stolen and between 9.45pm & 10.45pm a resident
of New Garden Street discovered that offenders had gained entry to his property
via the kitchen window before stealing a lap top computer and a monitor.
The attempted distraction burglary occurred at warden controlled flats in
Sundown Drive when a man approached a flat at 7pm and told the resident
he was visiting his aunty but was late and needed to use the toilet. Luckily
the resident pulled her cord and the man left. He is described as white, 40-45
years old, 6' tall and was wearing dark clothing. He was well built with a
round face and had dark spiky hair going grey at the front.
If you have any information about any of the above please contact the police
immediately.
There has also been another burglary reported, this one in John Donne Street,
where a resident woke on the morning of 22nd February, to discover offenders
have entered their property via a kitchen window and stolen a tv and dvd's.

is to warn you about possible rogue traders operating in the area.
On Saturday morning 2nd February two men approached an elderly
resident in Oakridge Close, Walton on the Hill and asked her if she wanted her
trees cutting down.
She agreed to have the work done but was charged £900 and when she later looked
through her bedroom window she saw that they had thrown the branches over her
fence onto the playing fields of Oakridge Primary School.
The two men are described as white, 6’ tall with dark hair. They were wearing
fluourescent tops with a logo of a saw on them and they were in an open backed
white lorry.
Please be on your guard, especially the elderly and vulnerable and do not deal
with doorstep callers of any kind. If you do require any work doing on your
property it is advisable to obtain three different quotes from three reputable
companies first.

This is a warning
to residents.
There has been a spate of thefts of lead from properties throughout
Staffordshire recently due to the current high value of scrap metals.
The latest incident occurred in Cowan Drive Stafford during the early hours of
Tuesday morning when offenders removed lead from ground floor chimneys of two
properties.

Sometime between 7am & 4.30pm yesterday 15th January a red & silver
Carera mountain bike was stolen from Baswich Lane.
The bike was chained to a lamppost by the pelican crossing lights and was
stolen by unknown means.

the whereabouts of this bike,

23rd November
This is an
appeal for information and a warning to residents.
During the past hour there have been two more incidents of bogus official
crimes in Stafford.
At approx. 2pm two males went to the home of an elderly resident in Crispin
Close and said there was a water burst. One of the men went into the house and
tried to distract the occupant but didn't succeed.
The men are described as 1 black male and 1 white male, one was tall and one
was short and fat but it is not known which was which. The white male had a
short beard and they were both wearing duffel coats.
Shortly after two males entered the house of a 97 year old lady in Ten Butts
Crescent under the pretence of being from the water board. They then searched
through cupboards but it's not known at this stage if anything has been stolen.
The only description we have from this incident is that one of the men was
5'6''tall, with a goatee beard, and was wearing a baseball cap.
Please warn your neighbours to be on their guard, especially the elderly and
vulnerable and advise them not to let anyone into their homes unless they are
absolutely certain of their identity.

22nd November
There was
another suspicious incident in Stafford on 22nd November.
It happened between 9am & 11am at an address in Sandringham Road when a
male entered the home of an elderly resident saying that he was checking for
damp.
The man then went upstairs and placed his hand on the bed before then going
back downstairs and leaving.
It is not known at this stage if anything was stolen.
A male seen leaving the premises is described as white, 40-50 years of age of
stocky build with short brown hair. He was wearing smart trousers and a smart
pastel coloured open necked shirt. He had a green sports jacket and was
carrying a clipboard.
Please warn your neighbours to be on their guard especially the elderly and
vulnerable and advise them not to let anyone into their homes unless they are
absolutely sure of their identity.
Any suspicious callers should be reported to the police immediately.
12th November
This is a
warning to residents.
There have been four incidents of theft from vehicle in the Stafford area over
the weekend where thieves have stolen tools and another incident where a wallet
was stolen.
Tools were stolen from vehicles in Birkdale Drive, Harrowby Drive, Colwich
Drive and Riverway and the wallet was stolen from an insecure vehicle in St
Leonards Avenue and they all occurred during the hours of darkness. In three of
the incidents a window has been smashed to gain entry and in the other case the
rear doors were forced.
Please warn your neighbours to be on their guard and to make sure their
vehicles are parked as securely as possible. It is advisable to empty vehicles
of all valuables before leaving them unattended.
Any suspicious activity should be reported to the police immediately.
2nd November
The family of
a 45-year-old Stafford man reported missing on October 26 are growing
increasingly concerned for his whereabouts.
Officers from Stafford CID have been working with the family of Stephen
Campbell of Meadow Way as well as other forces and volunteers to locate him.
During the past three days, officers from West Midlands' specialist shallow
water search team have searched 25 pools in the Coppenhall area after Mr
Campbell's
Red Peugeot 206 car was found near Dunston Heath and a man matching his
description was seen in the area nine days ago.
Officers from across the division are also being assisted in their search by
voluntary organisation, Staffordshire Search and Rescue Team. The force
helicopter has conducted a search and trained dogs have also been used.
Mr Campbell is described as white, 6' tall and of medium build. He has receding
blond hair and a beard. It is believed he was last seen wearing light
coloured trousers and a light blue or green striped rugby top.

This is a
warning to residents in the Stafford policing area.
During the past few weeks there have been several incidents of Bogus Caller
crime in the Chase Policing area, where offenders have purported to be from
such agencies as the Waterboard and persuaded the resident to let them into the
house, or in some incidents, offenders have entered a resident's home
uninvited. The offenders have distracted the resident and stolen cash. These
crimes have usually occurred during the daytime or early evening, and several
incidents have occurred on a Friday.
Please warn your neighbours, particularly elderly or vulnerable neighbours, to
be on their guard and to keep their front and back doors locked and secure, and
to put the chain on before answering the door. If a stranger calls and does not
a have an appointment, do not let them in until you have contacted their
company using a telephone number from the phone book or an old bill to check
that they are genuine. Please report any suspicious callers to the police
immediately.

This is a
warning to residents.
Sometime between 11.50pm Friday 7th & 10am Saturday 8th September there was
an attempted burglary at a temporarily void property in Widecombe Avenue.
The offender climbed onto a flat roof, causing damage to a lightning conductor,
and it is believed that the offender then fell off the roof and broke a plant
pot in the process before making their escape. There were no witnesses.

This is a
warning to residents.
Police and Trading Standards would like to make you aware of a gang of
tarmacers who are operating in your area.
Although they are not acting illegally they will more often than not charge you
a lot more than they should do.
The gang in question comprise of three white males, two with Cannock type
accents and one with a Welsh type accent, and they are driving a Volvo tipper
truck reg. V770 DGM.

A resident of Wildwood Lawns has woken this morning to find his back door wide
open and a lap top computer and a motorcycle jacket, containing credit cards,
missing.
It is not known how the offender gained entry but it is possible that the door
had been left insecure.

This is a
warning to residents.
There has been another bogus official incident in Stafford today 30th March.
It happened just after midday when a man called at a house in Oxbarn Road
claiming to be from the gas board.
The elderly resident was confused enough to let the man into her home but never
let him out of her sight.
She later discovered money missing from her purse which suggests an accomplice
sneaked into the house unnoticed.
The offender is described as white, 25-30 years of age, slim build, black hair
and was wearing a blue long sleeved shirt and dark trousers.
Please warn your neighbours about this incident, especially the elderly and
vulnerable and warn them not to let anyone into their homes unless they are
absolutely sure of their identities. Anything untoward should be reported to
the police immediately.
