Chairman’s report:
Speedwatch is now in place and website is operational.
Bodmin flower beds being sorted.
Ongoing projects include an alcohol ban for playing fields and applying
for a section 30 authority for police to disperse large gatherings.
An email from a Bodmin resident, who has police support, sums up the
problems with kids and noise in front gardens at nights.
There were comments from the floor re speeding on Porlock Avenue and
parking on pavements. Sue Francis replied that survey is being done to make it
safe for children going to school. John Francis has attended a meeting over
speed bumps in the area – but these are not popular and not supported by
anyone.
Financial Statement:
Balance of account is £2894.62.
£1000 was spent on speed cameras and £200 on gift to school.
Election of Chairman and
Committee:
Kevan Tongue re-elected as chairman.
Existing members also re-elected onto committee, together with new
member Rachel Sunderland.
Police Update:
On anti-social behavior need to note numbers and identify the people
involved.
Wildwood park now alcohol free. A request has been made for other areas
to be alcohol free also. Police are working with schools and a letter is to go
to all parents.
Police will be in the area over Halloween and Bonfire nights.
Police have problems with parents not supporting them and parent apathy
on kids behaviour.
Comments from floor that kids should be targeted at junior schools. John
Francis said that a youth club for 7 – 9 year olds might be reopened. Jackie
Moore explained to meeting the terrible problems she has living close by the
Lynton tavern with anti-social behavior.
Darren Maddocks is replacing Caroline Community Police Officer.
Any Other Business:
Comments from suggestion box in library taken from written sheets.
Parking on disabled parking by shops is still a problem.
Jack Barber asked if bus shelter near pub could be removed if agreed by
local population. Police reply that a survey of shelter users reports 90% happy
to have it removed.
