Crime update 10th July 2008.
Please
find below the crime report for the Baswich area:
- At
approx 19:00hrs on 01/07/08 a red mountain bike was stolen from the rear
beer garden of the Lynton Tavern public house. This is currently being
investigated by police.
- On
05/07/08 police received two reports of criminal damage to bus shelters. The
bus shelters on Radford Rise and Weeping Cross have both been smashed. It
is unknown the exact date/time that this damage occurred. This is
currently being investigated by police.
- Several
incidents of antisocial behaviour have been reported to police since the
last community meeting: These reports have been in relation to large
groups of youths gathering in the area causing disturbances to the local
residents. In addition to this reports have been received of youths
fighting. Police responded to all reports made.
- Several
residents in the Baswich area have raised the issue of cyclists using the
footpaths to cycle on. This issue has been raised and discussed at
previous meetings. The police have been taking positive action with any
person seen riding on the pavement. In addition to this over the last few
weeks local officers have been working with the schools in educating young
persons cycling proficiency.
- The
shops at Bodmin Avenue have been experiencing some problems at the rear of
their premises. At the last meeting it was highlighted that a fire had been
started and that one of the outbuildings had been damaged as access was
attempted to be gained. Since the last meeting it has been reported that
youths have been congregating around the rear of the premises and that a
scrap man attempted to take the metal milk crates. The police have been
looking into the possibility of obtaining funding to assist in making the
area more secure.
