Neighbourhood
Watch Schemes are based on the concept of being a good Neighbour.
The principals are simple.
Neighbours are encouraged to join together to keep a watch on each
others property and to report any suspicious people and/or
happenings to the Police.
Neighbourhood Watch Members are encouraged to place special emphasis
on the adoption and implementation of Crime Prevention Measures.
Neighbourhood Watch has both Local and National Associations and is
fully supported by the Police.
1. To
reduce crime and
the fear of crime
2. To
develop a community sprit amongst the people that live in an area
covered by a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
3. To
enhance the relationship between the public and the Police, by
working in partnership.
4. To
encourage the NW Members to help themselves, by helping the Police
in the prevention and detection of crime.
5. To
set up a network of Group and area co-ordinators so that every
household can be covered by an active Neighbourhood watch scheme.
1. It
has been
proven to act as a deterrent against criminal activity and
anti-social behaviour.
2. It
should reduce the fear of crime.
3. You
will get to know your neighbours better and look out for each other.
